Herbals » Willow
The willow tree grows primarily in central and southern Europe, although it is also found in North America. It is the willow bark and leaves that are used to make herbal extracts. The leaves and bark of the willow tree have been mentioned in ancient texts from Assyria, Sumer and Egypt as a remedy for aches and fever, because they contain salicylic acid, the precursor to aspirin.
